what i've been up to ...

I haven't been posting as often lately. Apologies to anyone who has noticed my absence.

I'm going to do a giveaway within the next week or so. The item(s) will be something handmade by me, like a clutch or jewelry maybe? Any ideas of kinds of things you'd want? Comment and tell me!

I have been craving shopping reeeally bad lately but I've been trying to avoid spending money. I decided to try sewing some new clothes to ease my feelings of withdrawal. Here are some creations I came up with:

P1010011
This is a romper I made and a little vest/shrug/bolero thing with pleats.

Below is a flowy maxi dress I made of jersey with some cool sheer appliques I cut out.
P1010024

P1010027

P1010031

P1010016
A skirt I made and me being a dork doing an action pose!

P1010038
This is a purse I sewed out of a windbreaker. This is what I did with the hood and one of my friends bought it awhile ago! Awesome!

And here's a picture of my dog because I think he's cute and he always looks so guilty when I pull the camera out.
P1010009

Soooo ... let me know in the comments if you have any specific things you like that you'd be interested in seeing me do a giveaway for. And let me know what you think of my sewing lately. And how has everyone been? I need to catch up on my google reader.

Lay it Down

Lately I've been kind of in a slump. My brain has not been working like it should and I wanted to sew some more clutches, but I couldn't do it. I tried making ruffles (easy!) and was an epic fail.

FINALLY my head cleared. And yesterday I made THREE new clutches. I'm very happy with them, and my favorite is the yacht clutch because it's so Blair Waldorf prepster.

Here are my latest creations!

P1010018

P1010017
Old Money Yacht clutch made with an upcycled turnlock clasp, old charms, beads, costume jewelry, vintage fabric and new white/navy chain fabric.

Engrish T-Shirt Clutch. I made this from a shirt I got in Japan but didn't really fit me. Made from recycled materials so it's eco-friendly (only the snaps and thread aren't). Check out the description I made for it on its etsy page too. Haha. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26282954

P1010011

Family Candy Jewels Clutch. I had this idea to use felt candies on a clutch and I really like how it turned out. I am enjoying this odd combination of colors. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26283907

Adventures in Centralia

Michael and I saw "17 Again" last night. I thought it was going to be completely awful. However I loved it! It was so good and I can honestly say I liked it as much as I liked Twilight (read: a LOT).

Anyone familiar with Daniela Sea? She was in the L Word which I was obsessed with a few months ago and she played a transgendered Max. Anyway, Zac Efron looks like her. I highly recommend seeing "17 Again" especially if you like ridiculous movies.

Also, I gave Michael his birthday surprise which was not that Hello Kitty vomit clutch. It was this owl wall hanging! Also I made him a mix cd which was strange to make since I lost all my files recently and the mix is made up of songs I had downloaded in the last 48 hours. Here's the owl and the playlist:

P1010003

1. Birthday - The Beatles
2. Santana DVX - The Lonely Island
3. Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode (Boys Noize remix)

8. Bring It On - Leon Jean Marie
9. The Kids Don't Stand a Chance - Vampire Weekend
10. The Passives - The Faint (Boys Noize remix)
11. Summer of 98 - The Secret Handshake

14. Your Visits Are Getting Shorter - Bloc Party

16. Mary's Boy Child - Boney M
17. Bonus Happy Birthday track

Today Michael and I drove around Centralia stopping at thrift stores and taking pictures of eachother in front of prominent Centralia/Chehalis landmarks. I'll post more when he's loaded them from his phone to flickr. [edit: photo not worky, post later when actually show up]

Clutch #8

P1010142

P1010141

P1010149

Last night I watched five episodes of Heroes. Tonight I had a Lipstick Jungle marathon (I adore Victory Ford and aspire to be her some day. Complete with millionaire love interest) and then a Fringe marathon. Then I watched an episode of the Simpsons. I love hulu.

Is it bad that I am really interested in electroconvulsive therapy? I wasn't aware they even still used this until a friend of mine mentioned it. But then I wikipedia'd it and apparently it's quite safe and relatively effective. I wonder if my insurance would cover this ... uhh.

I made chicken cordon bleu for the first time today (also the first time eating it) and it was pretty tasty. btw this cooking blog is awesome. I saw my therapist today and I think every time I see her I surprise her a little more with my strange thoughts, philosophies, theories, etc. I like her though and she is easy to talk to.

I was thinking ... it's not so bad that I have no money to pay any bills. Because soon my phone will be turned off. And then collections can't call me! Haha. Sad. Believe it or not, I actually currently have a pretty good credit score. April will be the end of that though. ): Talking about money is boring and lame and tacky. I'll stop.

My dog is adorable and trying to keep his sleepy eyes open to watch me from his vantage point on the bed. I love him.

zj

p.s. oh yeah, the clutch will be listed on etsy tomorrow (provided i wake up before the daylight is gone again) i need to take proper pictures and sew a snap closure on it first. (:

p.p.s. oh and why the hell am i selling my ds just when GRAND THEFT AUTO: CHINATOWN WARS is coming out?

If you haven't voted yet on my "if you had to wear one of these" poll, please do! it's right over there ==>

these shoes:

make me excited for spring.

It's 7 am, haven't gone to sleep yet. Packaged all the orders/sales I made this weekend. Sold my ruffle-ridden clutch to a good friend in Seattle (: Made some new cards. Sliced up a chanel watch ad, wove the strips back together onto watercolor paper. Hand-painted stems/clouds. Cut and paste.

newsflash

today (and by today i mean yesterday, because i haven't gone to bed yet) i have been filled with so much self-loathing i can barely stand it. i ate two loaves of french bread, a bag of parmesan goldfish, two lindt chocolate bars (one creme brulee one truffle cake and neither lived up to my expectations. anddd some other stuff i can't remember.

but yeah, sometimes i feel like my life in general brings new meaning to the phrase "eating your feelings."

good thing i have therapy appointment in about ... 5 hours and 45 minutes. ha.

today we're planning to talk about my f'd up religious beliefs. yikes.

i have been making lots and lots of stuff. i'll post a few pictures here, but if you want to see more just go to my flickr account.

Clutch #6

P1010137

P1010138

Number six is finished (mostly)!

When I started this clutch I was using brown herringbone wool. I had a few re-thinks before I got to this point. lol.

I will list it on etsy tomorrow. These pictures aren't that great and it's not technically finished since I ran out of snaps.

Plus I'm contemplating adding a keychain charm to the wristlet that matches the beads on it. We'll see.

Oh, and if you haven't seen this video yet, you need to watch it. Heinous.
