ugh
It's too fucking hot. all the blinds and shades in my house are drawn in an attempt to block out the heat. By the time I woke up it was already 81 degrees inside (and that's just the temp downstairs, my room is upstairs). Anyway, I went outside to take some pictures of my new scrunchies I made. It's way too hot outside, but the natural light was a good thing.

I'm proud of my computer for withstanding this heat. But I need to go bathe in ice cubes or something now. Ciao!

what i've been up to ...
I haven't been posting as often lately. Apologies to anyone who has noticed my absence.
I'm going to do a giveaway within the next week or so. The item(s) will be something handmade by me, like a clutch or jewelry maybe? Any ideas of kinds of things you'd want? Comment and tell me!
I have been craving shopping reeeally bad lately but I've been trying to avoid spending money. I decided to try sewing some new clothes to ease my feelings of withdrawal. Here are some creations I came up with:

This is a romper I made and a little vest/shrug/bolero thing with pleats.
Below is a flowy maxi dress I made of jersey with some cool sheer appliques I cut out.

A skirt I made and me being a dork doing an action pose!

This is a purse I sewed out of a windbreaker. This is what I did with the hood and one of my friends bought it awhile ago! Awesome!
And here's a picture of my dog because I think he's cute and he always looks so guilty when I pull the camera out.

Soooo ... let me know in the comments if you have any specific things you like that you'd be interested in seeing me do a giveaway for. And let me know what you think of my sewing lately. And how has everyone been? I need to catch up on my google reader.

Lay it Down
Lately I've been kind of in a slump. My brain has not been working like it should and I wanted to sew some more clutches, but I couldn't do it. I tried making ruffles (easy!) and was an epic fail.
FINALLY my head cleared. And yesterday I made THREE new clutches. I'm very happy with them, and my favorite is the yacht clutch because it's so Blair Waldorf prepster.
Here are my latest creations!

Old Money Yacht clutch made with an upcycled turnlock clasp, old charms, beads, costume jewelry, vintage fabric and new white/navy chain fabric.
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26284584

Engrish T-Shirt Clutch. I made this from a shirt I got in Japan but didn't really fit me. Made from recycled materials so it's eco-friendly (only the snaps and thread aren't). Check out the description I made for it on its etsy page too. Haha. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26282954

Family Candy Jewels Clutch. I had this idea to use felt candies on a clutch and I really like how it turned out. I am enjoying this odd combination of colors. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26283907

survey says.
As I get older I'm realizing my taste in guys is getting broader. In all aspects, including age. Maybe I'm just getting desperate.
The other day my grandma called me to ask if I'd help her run some errands. While we were at the grocery store I passed this cute boy who waved at me and said "Hello." He had a really cute smile and for a second I had that awful insecure feeling where you think Oh crap! What if he was just smiling at me as a joke or out of pity? You know, the kind of insane insecurity that you have in middle school or high school. Or maybe that was just me. lol. Mostly I'm more confident than that, but not always. Slightly flustered, I smiled back and said "hi." But then when I got home and thought about it and I realized he's probably in high school. And then I felt kinda pervy. I hope he was 18 at least.
Here were the poll results for how many people you've boned. My vote was in the 11-25 range.
1-5 partners: 6 votes (40%)
6-10 partners: 2 votes (13%)
11-25 partners: 3 votes (20%)
26-50 partners: 2 votes (13%)
50+ partners: 1 vote(6%)
I'm still pure!: 1 vote (6%)
I've got nothing for the next poll. Any ideas? Please comment them.
I have been sewing a ridiculous watermelon clutch and watching season 2 of Flight of the Conchords. This is the funniest thing ever to me:

Clutch #8
Last night I watched five episodes of Heroes. Tonight I had a Lipstick Jungle marathon (I adore Victory Ford and aspire to be her some day. Complete with millionaire love interest) and then a Fringe marathon. Then I watched an episode of the Simpsons. I love hulu.
Is it bad that I am really interested in electroconvulsive therapy? I wasn't aware they even still used this until a friend of mine mentioned it. But then I wikipedia'd it and apparently it's quite safe and relatively effective. I wonder if my insurance would cover this ... uhh.
I made chicken cordon bleu for the first time today (also the first time eating it) and it was pretty tasty. btw this cooking blog is awesome. I saw my therapist today and I think every time I see her I surprise her a little more with my strange thoughts, philosophies, theories, etc. I like her though and she is easy to talk to.
I was thinking ... it's not so bad that I have no money to pay any bills. Because soon my phone will be turned off. And then collections can't call me! Haha. Sad. Believe it or not, I actually currently have a pretty good credit score. April will be the end of that though. ): Talking about money is boring and lame and tacky. I'll stop.
My dog is adorable and trying to keep his sleepy eyes open to watch me from his vantage point on the bed. I love him.
p.s. oh yeah, the clutch will be listed on etsy tomorrow (provided i wake up before the daylight is gone again) i need to take proper pictures and sew a snap closure on it first. (:
p.p.s. oh and why the hell am i selling my ds just when GRAND THEFT AUTO: CHINATOWN WARS is coming out?

3. I finally sewed something new. I just took these pictures and since it is 9pm, the lighting is bad. New photos will be taken and it will be listed in my my etsy store tomorrow.

Clutch #6
Number six is finished (mostly)!
When I started this clutch I was using brown herringbone wool. I had a few re-thinks before I got to this point. lol.
I will list it on etsy tomorrow. These pictures aren't that great and it's not technically finished since I ran out of snaps.
Plus I'm contemplating adding a keychain charm to the wristlet that matches the beads on it. We'll see.
Oh, and if you haven't seen this video yet, you need to watch it. Heinous.

"I didn't know when to stop."
That's what the this clutch is called. It is so freakin' tacky and I LOVE it. It's still unfinished, but you get the idea:

[edit: it's 5:13am. i am done. i am going to list it on etsy now. then bed. zzzzzz]

Clutch #3. stressed + lazy = more stress.
Ugggh. I know I have bills I need to pay and I'm not really sure when everything is due and I'm too lazy/afraid to check. I keep putting it off. Tomorrow I WILL do it (maybe?).
My mom came in my room today to talk to me about something probably lame and pointless and said "Cool music!" in reference to Portishead.

I sewed my third clutch. I made it with thrifted fabric with ruffles (of course) and a small little chain that I strung with glass beads. I found an old shoebox of sewing notions (I love that word "notions") and used some snaps that I think are from the 60's or so to use as closures for my clutches. The package says it was 29 cents for 7 snaps.
Some beezy who bought some of my clothes off ebay has still not paid me yet ):
I finished my owl ATC's for a swap-bot swap.

To Do List for Tomorrow:
post office (send ebay packages and possibly buy bette davis stamps)
buy diet coke
call doctor re: wellbutrin
laundry
exercise of some kind (since I apparently cannot stop eating, I must start exercising)

PLEATS?! Disturbing dreams and NIN cream
Pleats, please!!
This is the second clutch I've made. Instead of ruffles I went for pleats this time. I used vintage/thrifted fabric for both and sewed them using the machine my grandparents bought me as a high school graduation gift (:

The last couple days I've been sleeping a lot more than usual which is good except for the fact that I've been having crazy disturbing dreams. I often have dreams where I feel paralyzed but awake. And sometimes I hear voices or music. They're always angry voices/music. Sometimes I can force myself to wake up out of these dreams and I did this a couple times and forced myself to be coherent enough to find my phone and write myself memos of what the voices/songs were saying because I wanted to remember them in the morning. Anyway, I forgot I even did this for a day at least. And when I remembered about it, I didn't think there would really be any notes in my phone and that I was just remembering part of the dream. However there were two notes in my phone and they were hellllaa creepy:
"Peron yassir arafat"
"where little. You gotta give me corn the most"
uhhhh, wtf???
I leave you with this video that made me cream my jeans:

"She paid me $10 a day not to wear ruffles or eat Ruffles in the office."
I just sewed this ruffle-ridden clutch and showed my boyfriend the pictures. This is how the conversation went:
him: what is it?
me: a clutch
me: do you know what that is
him: its like bigger than a wallet but smaller than a purse
me: lolz
him: like you "clutch" it
me: lol
me: i love you
me: you're so knowledgable about accessories
him: I love you too
him: lots
him: and your clutch is very well appointed
awww.
stupid worries. weight gain.
Lately I can. Not. Stop. Eating.

It's ridiculous and I'm sure I'm gaining weight which is stressing me out. Too bad my coping mechanism for stress is eating. I spent way too much money at the craft store yesterday so I'd better put it to good use. I feel like I can't focus though, because I have all these ideas of things I would like to do ... For instance, tonight, should I sew some ruffly underwear? A purse? Dolls? Should I do some more watercolors? Should I take some reference photos and start my still life series? Should I just take a nap?
Here is an average day in the life of me:
10am-1pm: wake up, check google analytics, my eBay, myspace, hotmail then go back to bed for bit
12pm-1pm: obligations/errands such as therapy, post office, bank, force me to get out of bed.
1pm-4pm: errands, shopping, eating
5pm-3am: eat, internet, make art/crafts
4am-7am: go to bed.
I guess my schedule is pretty fucked up. But the fact that I actually sketch or sew or think about art is pretty cool. It kind of scares me too though, I keep waiting for it to end. Like when you are learning to ride a bike and you get up and going ... but you know at any second you might fall over and bite it.
A potential job keeps calling me and I keep not answering. My friend Dana calls me like clockwork on her lunch break every day (i don't answer), which without fail, wakes me up. Ugh.
I think underwear sewing is winning out.
