swap-bot

Last Minute / Emergency / Back-up Gift Swap!

I'm hosting a swap on swap-bot.com. Sign up and join my swap if you'd like. What is swap-bot? Essentially, it's a site where you can go, sign up for a swap, and send and receive stuff to/from strangers! It's pretty fun if you enjoy sending and receiving snail mail.

Anyway, here is the description for the swap I'm hosting:

Everyone, on occasion, has need for a gift with little to no notice. A backup gift to keep on hand for emergencies. Whether it's a thank you, a hostess gift, an "uhh, of COURSE I remembered your birthday's today" gift, sometimes you just aren't prepared.

In this swap you will be sending one partner a gift (total value of at least $10) that they can keep on hand for the next time they're unprepared for a gift giving occasion!

Since there is no way to know what their next unexpected gift giving occasion is, it's a good idea to keep things relatively non-gender/age specific if you can (or you can make requests of what you would like to receive. for instance, you might want a backup gift for a "girl age 4-6" if you have a daughter who might have friends' birthdays coming up or you could specify "unisex twenty-something" if most of your peers are in their 20's). Also, sending things that are not perishable is a good idea. If you send your partner a batch of your famous chocolate chip cookies, they might be pretty stale by the time he/she needs to use them. Just use common sense (:

In this swap you must include at minimum the following: 1) a gift 2) gift wrap, gift bag or other cute packaging (don't wrap up the item as your partner surely wants to know what's inside before they give it to someone. just include the wrapping in your package. it's okay to put the gift in its wrapping if it's a resealable style bag or something) 3) notecard

The total value of these 3 things should be at LEAST $10. Your items may be handmade or store bought. They must be things you'd actually want to receive or be willing to give to a good friend! Send your partner a nice little package!

Gift ideas could be: Stationery/note cards Chocolate/candies A scarf Plushies/stuffed animals

No participants with ratings less than 4.8 and no recent no sends. Newbies, please send me a message before joining.

This swap is US-only, but if a lot of people like it, I may do it again as an international swap next time.

Hearts should be given for anyone who goes the extra mile (:

And here's a link to a cute gift guide I found while searching for images for my swap: http://www.designspongeonline.com/2007/11/2007-gift-guide-25-and-under.html

World History Review

I hate most kids, and I'd probably hate this little girl if I spent much time with her, but this video is cute:

Clutch #3. stressed + lazy = more stress.

Ugggh. I know I have bills I need to pay and I'm not really sure when everything is due and I'm too lazy/afraid to check. I keep putting it off. Tomorrow I WILL do it (maybe?).

My mom came in my room today to talk to me about something probably lame and pointless and said "Cool music!" in reference to Portishead.

I sewed my third clutch. I made it with thrifted fabric with ruffles (of course) and a small little chain that I strung with glass beads. I found an old shoebox of sewing notions (I love that word "notions") and used some snaps that I think are from the 60's or so to use as closures for my clutches. The package says it was 29 cents for 7 snaps.

Some beezy who bought some of my clothes off ebay has still not paid me yet ):

I finished my owl ATC's for a swap-bot swap.

To Do List for Tomorrow:
post office (send ebay packages and possibly buy bette davis stamps)
buy diet coke
call doctor re: wellbutrin
laundry
exercise of some kind (since I apparently cannot stop eating, I must start exercising)

PLEATS?! Disturbing dreams and NIN cream

Pleats, please!!

This is the second clutch I've made. Instead of ruffles I went for pleats this time. I used vintage/thrifted fabric for both and sewed them using the machine my grandparents bought me as a high school graduation gift (:

The last couple days I've been sleeping a lot more than usual which is good except for the fact that I've been having crazy disturbing dreams. I often have dreams where I feel paralyzed but awake. And sometimes I hear voices or music. They're always angry voices/music. Sometimes I can force myself to wake up out of these dreams and I did this a couple times and forced myself to be coherent enough to find my phone and write myself memos of what the voices/songs were saying because I wanted to remember them in the morning. Anyway, I forgot I even did this for a day at least. And when I remembered about it, I didn't think there would really be any notes in my phone and that I was just remembering part of the dream. However there were two notes in my phone and they were hellllaa creepy:

"Peron yassir arafat"
"where little. You gotta give me corn the most"

uhhhh, wtf???

I leave you with this video that made me cream my jeans:

I just sewed this ruffle-ridden clutch and showed my boyfriend the pictures. This is how the conversation went:

him: what is it?
me: a clutch
me: do you know what that is
him: its like bigger than a wallet but smaller than a purse
me: lolz
him: like you "clutch" it
me: lol
me: i love you
me: you're so knowledgable about accessories
him: I love you too
him: lots
him: and your clutch is very well appointed

awww.

stupid worries. weight gain.

Lately I can. Not. Stop. Eating.

It's ridiculous and I'm sure I'm gaining weight which is stressing me out. Too bad my coping mechanism for stress is eating. I spent way too much money at the craft store yesterday so I'd better put it to good use. I feel like I can't focus though, because I have all these ideas of things I would like to do ... For instance, tonight, should I sew some ruffly underwear? A purse? Dolls? Should I do some more watercolors? Should I take some reference photos and start my still life series? Should I just take a nap?

Here is an average day in the life of me:
10am-1pm: wake up, check google analytics, my eBay, myspace, hotmail then go back to bed for bit
12pm-1pm: obligations/errands such as therapy, post office, bank, force me to get out of bed.
1pm-4pm: errands, shopping, eating
5pm-3am: eat, internet, make art/crafts
4am-7am: go to bed.

I guess my schedule is pretty fucked up. But the fact that I actually sketch or sew or think about art is pretty cool. It kind of scares me too though, I keep waiting for it to end. Like when you are learning to ride a bike and you get up and going ... but you know at any second you might fall over and bite it.

A potential job keeps calling me and I keep not answering. My friend Dana calls me like clockwork on her lunch break every day (i don't answer), which without fail, wakes me up. Ugh.

I think underwear sewing is winning out.

Tokyo! the movie, post office, swaps, shoe shops and sleep.

This movie looks pretty great.

I sold over half my wardrobe on eBay and shipped out several packages of stuff. I also sold a coat on etsy! Thank god, because now I can pay my cell phone bill.

I also sent a birthday card to my friend Roy and a kawaii postcard for a Swap-Bot swap. Other swaps I've done/am going to do are:

"Worst Date Ever" email swap
Owl ATC Swap
Twilight Music Swap - this swap you make a CD of music that SHOULD have been on the Twilight soundtrack and send it your partner. I've already started working on mine.
Gain Exposure to Your Blog Swap
Mini Recipe Book Swap

I love swap-bot.

I'm so tired. I ran out of my Wellbutrin prescription and have honestly been too lazy to call my doctor to refill it. That's bad. But Wellbutrin is the reason why I can't sleep.

I was window shopping at endless.com (my fave shoe store) and kept putting things in my cart that I liked. My subtotal is $1,600.00. Yikes. Click here to see a screenshot. Lolz

Oh yeah, and I cleaned my room. It was looking like this:
